Jolo, stronghold of Islamist group Abu Sayyaf

FRANCE 24's reporters defied a ban on entering the island of Jolo, in the south of the Philippines, where Islamist group Abu Sayyaf has been multiplying abductions of foreigners. As they discovered, the tension there is palpable.

My only concern in this article is about the use of the word "...Islamist Group Abu Sayyaf" which I percieved a continuing effort or manifestation of "stereotype, bias and prejudice of both domestic and international media against Islam.

If we try to examine, the Qur'an and Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) including Caliphate and Imammate periods, we will never find justification on the most hated actuations of the Abu Sayyaf like kidnappings, beheadings and tortures of their victims who are mostly innocent civilians including their fellow Muslims as any manner allowed in Islam...notwithstanding sufferings of thousands and thousands of civilians being affected by state forces operations in pursuit of this notorious groups whenever the Abu Sayyaf make kidnappings...

But then western writters still connect this abhorent act in Islam to Islam such as the use of the word "...Islamist Abu Sayyaf."
